Why does everyone keep yammering on about the 15 year old babysitting? The kids' parents are right there, there's no need for anyone to babysit. That wasn't what OP was expecting.
No, OP wants the teenager to "go play" with her 11 year old.
Nothing wrong with that, she is a kid after all. She can't find anything fun to do with the other kids.
Do you think everyone under 18 enjoys playing together? It’s like you’re unfamiliar with humans.
I think it's funny that so many people are arguing that a 15 year is far too old to play with younger children, but that OP, who is likely 25-30 years older than the 15 year old, should be perfectly happy to include her in their conversation.
Yes OP, we expect you to be polite and welcoming to EVERYONE that you invite into your home... age should not be a factor. How is this even a question? It's very obvious which people were raised with no home training.
A 15 year old should take a steer from the host and be happy to spend time with ANYONE that is in the house...including younger children. It was frankly quite rude of her decline OP's suggestion to go to the basement. If I'm a guest in someone's house and they say we're moving into the living room now, I don't insist on staying in the dining room.
Let’s assume OP has some basic manners. If so, the conversation likely went something like this: OP: Larla, you’re welcome to join the kids in the red room - I think they’re watching a movie. Larla: “Thanks, Ms OP, I’ll keep that in mind.” Neither of these people is doing anything wrong or rude. I’m guessing OP didn’t say, “Larla, you must go down to the basement with the other kids,” as that would be pretty rude. And I’m guessing Larla didn’t say, “Yeah, no, I refuse to hang out in the basement and insist on staying here.”
