I’m mostly liberal, but if a book has PICTURES of pornography, it shouldn’t be in school. Same with playboy etc. That’s common sense. I’m not familiar with that book, so no idea what is actually in it.
13:36 here. You can see it for yourself. It’s pretty benign and it’s well contextualized, and the images are via a hardcore right wing site so I imagine it’s even better contextualized in the actual book. It depicts a questioning teen (young adult? It’s unclear) in what appears to be caring, loving relationship in which no one is forced. Kids are actually doing these things and it isn’t photos or hardcore. It also isn’t in elementary schools as far as I can tell. I also don’t think a book about being bi/gay/non binary is really going to do numbers regardless of the kind of imagery depicted. This is for the kids who need it and in the poisoned political climate the GOP has brought about, those kids need more support than ever, not having to go to a school guidance officer’s office who will then ask Ma and Pa for permission for the kid to read it. And it’s not just school libraries these fascists are targeting. It’s public libraries and book stores. This is the slippery slope the GOP warned us about.
