Fwiw, it is fairly standard practice for lobbyists to make contributions to many politicians on both sides of the aisle. A $200 contribution to Pence in that context does not make her a Pence supporter. Not disqualifying to me. I really care much more about where a candidate stands: on tax policy, business regulation, housing, crime. Monte is a centrist, which I realize some see as far right in the context of DC politics. I'm not planning to vote for her, just reacting to all the knee-jerk negativity I'm finding in these discussions, primarily from the supporters of progressive candidates. It is very much hardening me in my own more-centrist views.[/quote]
I agree. I am really repulsed by the antics of these hard left (and almost entirely white) DC progressives, which makes me more inclined to oppose them and support candidates that seek to build bridges and find compromises. I refuse to be associated with people who behave like this.[/quote]
