Meri is still considered a wife even though Kody doesn't have a sexual/romantic relationship with her.  Their relationship has been strained for a long time. Meri was already out, which is why she should leave. There is no repairing their relationship. Kody is stubborn and will punish her forever.

I used to think that the way the Browns did polygamy was okay because they were all consenting adults.  I was wrong.  This current season has highlighted for me how much the children suffer.  It speaks volumes that none of their adult children are interested in polygamous lifestyles. Kody is too focused on himself to be a good dad. He sucks and but I'm enjoying watching him unravel because he is losing control.
