Such an idiot.  Manchin believed he had 10 Republican votes to move forward with a vote but only got one (Murkowski).  Republicans made a total fool of him and now everyone knows Manchin has no influence with them.[/quote]

It made Manchin look weak and he knows it.  Now there’s even more pressure on Manchin to support filibuster reform.  This bill was supposed to be where he would prove he could negotiate a bipartisan deal that would get enough Republicans to vote to end the filibuster (even if they didn’t ultimately vote for the bill).  He spent weeks negotiating compromises to the bill, and still couldn’t get the Republicans on board.  It totally gutted his argument that the filibuster could be saved.[/quote]
