That is month-to-month data, which can show variability. Looking at the whole year, you see a different picture.

2020: 200 homicides (16.7 per month)
2021: 79 homicides (15.8 per month)[/quote]

Crime is seasonal to some extent. The summer months are generally worse for both property crime and violent crime. That's the whole reason DC police website provides a year-to-date comparison with the previous year. But hey, if you want to do your own back of the envelope calculations that are less valid to make yourself feel better, go ahead.[/quote]
