I’m still not seeing anything in this video that entitled the two perps to shoot Mr. Arbery like a dog. What am I missing?
I don’t think anyone is saying the men who shot him were right. They deserve to be convicted of murder. But this is just not a hobbyjogger martyr lynching.
Then what is it?
It is a man who was skulking around, not our for a jog, in a place he was not supposed to be, and two (or three depending on the extent of the involvement of the videotape guy) men who either misunderstood the law or wanted to use it to initiate a confrontation, which got totally out of control. I do not believe Arbery was shot immediately on sight. He was shot upon charging Travis McMichael. That DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT. But this simply wasn’t a lynching, just as Matthew Shepard’s murder wasn’t a hate crime.
You must be exhausted from the mental gymnastics it took to come up with this crap.
Eh, I agree with previous PP. This was initially sold to us as "a black man was just working out and shot for no reason by crazy racist whites." The real story is that "crazy (possibly but not definitely racist) white men chased down a suspected intruder with guns instead of letting cops handle it." The race issue comes into play when you look at the actions of the police here, who did NOTHING about this crime. Now, maybe that's because the killers had personal connections to the police. But it's also part of a larger pattern of the lives of blacks not being valued by law enforcement.
No, sorry. Under GA's law, their "stopping" him did not fit what was legally permissible. AND they used deadly force where it was not warranted. BTW, I'm putting aside all your BS attempts to smear the victim here. At best he's guilty of uncomfortable running attire and being nosy. And, BTW, both of those traits are on fully display in my neighborhood on the daily. And are not grounds for murdering someone.
