There isn't really an equivalent political group in the UK for the ultra conservatives in the US. Also, remember that the UK has had some very powerful queens in their history - times where the empire was at its greatest like during Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria's reign. British people are used to women in positions of power. Many Americans, particularly men, aren't. We are hampered by religious conservatives who don't believe women should lead men. I am life long conservative protestant, what you would call "born again Christian", and I had been exposed to this.[/quote]
