Thanks for reaching out and its nice to hear from you.  In the soccer landscape (especially youth) the rumors can circulate like wildfire.  I can assure you that no decisions have been made about the Spirit youth model or programming for 2019 and beyond.

Right now it's business as usual with the Spirit youth programing and DA support continuing this spring for both the Virginia and Maryland DA programs.

Probably because the new CEO wants to review the books to ensure the organization is OK on cashflow and provides a benefit to the organization.   Once that's confirmed, he can decide to continue.  Not an earth shattering idea and, quite frankly, ID sessions are not much different than any club cattle call anyway.  Not much benefit to having them.[/quote]

The owner was a co-owner so he is familiar with the books already. You also don’t buy a company without seeing the books already.

If Spirit is keeping VA DA for the 2019-2020 season it is very easy to say so. The email reply also did not denounce the rumors but acknowledged that such rumors exist.

Sorry, this isn't correct.  Larry Best is new and didn't have knowledge of the books.  If you are saying that Baldwin made the call last November and they are keeping it under wraps like some kind of big conspiracy, then that's different.

And I'll say this....if they are doing that then they will lose hundreds and hundreds of happy, paying customers, not only in DA families but tickets, season tickets, and fans.  Those who would be screwed by such a scenario would never support the club again.

That's the biggest reason I think this is all hogwash.  Why would someone throw away a big revenue source and alienate their most loyal fans?

The problem with your analysis is that you assume:
1. Spirit DA is actually profitable.
2. Spirit overall is profitable.
3. The new owner even wants 2 DA's or any at all. (US Soccer will have their say but not every NWSL club has a GDA)[/quote]

Because I don't necessarily believe any FCV involvement. I don't believe FCV wants what they already have. They would be just as happy if Spirit DA did not exist at all and the player pool was more concentrated.

If there is any FCV involvement it will likely be FCV paying for some licensing agreement to put on a Spirit patch or whatever on their jersey while still keeping their own brand while offering a "pro club connection" to their players. I believe Spirit would rather sell access to the brand than do any of the actual work of running the DA. So if any relationship were to happen it would be a rather shallow arrangement and would have very little Spirit oversight.
