I think people trying to use the name are missing what's significant.  The court decision is significant, not Loving's actions.  Especially in view of the fact that she denied her black heritage and her accomplishment was marrying a white man. [/quote]

It would be named after Washington, a person, and Loving, another person.  I'm saying Loving didn't do anything significant, so the school shouldn't be named after her.  What was significant was the Supreme Court's decision in the Loving case because the Justices did the right thing.  When I heard the name, I did interpret it as being named after the Washington and the Loving Supreme Court decision.  The more appropriate name would be Washington-Loving v. Virginia, which would be a ridiculous name. [/quote]
