Loudoun has -69 goal difference in ECNL! There's not a single Loudoun ECNL team with a positive goal difference. The results speak for themselves.
Wait until the 07s get to ECNL next year. You will see a big difference. The top 3 Loudoun 07 teams are far stronger than any other club in the area. That will be the first year that Loudoun has an ECNL team at tryouts.
I heard that their 07 teams are good, but their 08 teams are weak. Having one strong age group is not enough, if the other age groups struggle. Loudoun would need to work hard to retain their 07s from leaving for other clubs and recruit like crazy for their 08 team. If they succeed, they will be where VDA is now with strong teams in younger age groups and weaker teams in older age groups. Maybe they will even have to offer some of the top players on 07 and 08 teams "free ride" or "free to play" to retain or recruit them.
No club is strong in every age group. Also, no club in girls soccer on the East Coast provides “free to play”. It does not sounds like you have a DD playing travel soccer in this area.
Most good ECNL clubs are strong in multiple age groups and it is difficult to make an argument that Loudoun has a single strong team in ECNL. I agree that no girls ECNL club locally offers free to play, but Loudoun has to change the overall dynamics of their ECNL performance and may be desperate enough to sweeten the offers for its most promising age group. The club will probably roll the dice, stay put, and risk losing them, but at a minimum the club has to consider an option of sweetening the deal for the very best players they hope to retain.
So why would Loudoun lose the 07s and 08s again? Where would they go?
The DA (FCV and Spirit). When are Loudoun's ID sessions going to be? If your daughter gets offered a DA spot before she gets offered an ECNL spot, you are going to have to make a tough decision. Find out when the ID sessions will be. Do you research. I am sure there will be girls from Loudoun's top 07 teams on FCV and Spirit next year. Spirit would probably take a stand out 08 on their 07 academy team (they want to develop top players).
Why would a Loudoun Red 07 player go to an FCV 07 team they have scored 22-1 against the 3 times they played? LOL. Keep dreaming.
So if FCV puts together a DA team that can beat them next year then they will all want to join it?
