I have a TJ kid, and there are a couple of teachers who are highly sought out for Recs who are telling this years juniors that they will not complete recommendations for anyone applying to more than 10 or  12 schools.  I really like that. Just because you can apply to be the kid who gets into allof the Ivy’s, plus Stanford, plus a half dozen more does not mean you should. [/quote]

Yeah.  This is what I am trying to figure out. I’m not sure how they would police this— or if they can.  Maybe they are working with guidance?  Or maybe, this is just what they hope, and they know they can’t stop it.  This is my first time through, so I’m a bit fuzzy on the mechanics— which have changed a lot in the last 20 years.

At any rate, I told my kid if he wants the rec, he needs to live within the conditions that come with it.  If he doesn’t like the only 12 schools part, he should respect their wishes and ask someone else. [/quote]
