Hi Ladies, With my clinic they want me to choose an option to do before I do any egg retrievals and I am stumped and reading through all your posts in hope to get some insight. I am 37 yrs old, I have had 3 failed IUI's, unexplained infertility as they call it. I have a low FSH 0.952 and 9 Follicles on the first ultrasound. Should I bank eggs first? Or should I just go with the 1 round of IVF and hope to god I get good quality eggs. The kicker is, the clinic doesn't believe in fresh transfers due to studies showing a higher percentage rate of frozen transfers resulting in a pregnancy. So who is to say I will have any to freeze? The cost difference is large though so this is where my struggle is on what to do.
You mean bank embryos, right? At your age, I would say do as many stim cycles as you can afford. I was always a high responded (late 30s/early 40s) but my last rounds (I banked because it made more sense with insurance) of the approximately 50+ eggs over three cycles, I had ONE embryo to transfer (we had a pre-existing genetic issue with a 50% impact rate, to be clear). We probably got 20 to 5 day blasts; lost 12 to the known genetic issue and more to other issues, then literally were down to one recommended for transfer. DS is nearly 2. It's a numbers game for sure. No matter what your response, you need to get the biggest pool possible/afford at the youngest age.
