New schools need rock solid written policies and procedures and ongoing training from day 1, for all staff that has contact with kids (admin, teachers, aides, specialists).

Schools need to train all staff on their responsibilities as mandated reporters.

School staff should not be allowed to offer tutoring, enrichment lessons and so forth to students enrolled in the school. Parents should be apprised of this policy in the student/family handbook.

Teachers should not be able to excuse / take students out of aftercare for 1:1 work.

All staff positions should be required to be posted publicly, and a team of teachers and administrators should interview all candidates for positions that will work with children.[/quote]
