A) This is not what affirmative action "says"
B) Holistic admission accounts for more than just grades and GPA because schools want interesting, dynamic, students who aren't just book smart - regardless of race.  I know I am glad the school I went to looked at more than just grades and test scores.  
C) Kids drop out of schools for all sorts of reasons but not one of them is affirmative action. You are spewing nonsense.  In fact, if schools also focused on supporting kids once they were admitted and not exposing them to the kind of prejudiced views you hold, they might feel more included in the college community.[/quote]

+ 1 Students admitted under affirmative action policies graduate at much lower rates. Why this should surprise anyone is odd. After all, they were admitted with lower grades and scores that would have put them in the reject pile if they were white, Asian, or Jewish. This very reliable source says that the lowest completion rate, defined at graduating four years from when one started a specific institution,  is lowest among black males (40%) and highest among Asian females (75%).

it's a fair argument as to whether we continue to "owe" blacks preferential treatment (and if so, for how many more generations), but AA is a costly policy, admitting students who are less likely to graduate and denying students more likely to graduate.

No, but a black applicant admitted to a top-tier school under lower standards, where the white student is rejected, is definitely costing that white student a slot. Now you can argue that the white student can go to a 2nd-tier school, but I am saying why should the black kid get to go to the better school and the white kid to a lesser school despite the fact that the white kid had higher grades and scores? Patently unfair and racist.

Black kids trying to get into college haven't suffered from centuries of racism. They're 18 years old, and they, and their parents, and and their grandparents have been given preferential treatment in admissions. And there's a lack of positive role models? Is that the whites' fault, too?

Blacks really should look toward the Jews and emulate them, rather than resent them. Study how they overcome terrible prejudice, slamming doors (good luck getting into an Ivy in the 50s), mass murder of their cousins, and STILL managed to form strong family units and get an education. Ask yourself: what are Jews doing differently than blacks that have helped them succeed in spite of antisemitism? And there's your answer.[/quote]

How about whites suffer under slavery by blacks for centuries and then you can answer this question? There is racism existing to this day. You walk in the street and you see a black man you assume the worst regardless of who that person is and that is subtle racism. A white man doesn't stop at a stop sign then it is "a stupid man", a black man does the same then it is "these stupid blacks". This is Subtle racism as well.[b] Jews came with education as do asians and both of them never suffered from the worst of racism. Jews have never suffered the worst of racism? I'll let you re-think that. And we still have living Holocaust survivors today, who have gone through the worst of racism, yet somehow their kids are doctors and lawyers.

And Jews "came with education"? You are full of erroneous stereotypes. The German Jews who came in the early 1800s were educated, but the throngs that came from Eastern Europe during the mass immigration were uneducated and dirt poor. They arrived on these shores with a knapsack, a pair of candlesticks for Sabbath, and a few dollars. Fast forward 25 years, and their kids are all college graduates.

You are making excuses because Jews go from poverty to upper-middle class in a single generation, whereas blacks, for whatever reason, are nowhere near as successful in breaking out of poverty. Do not keep saying "for whatever reason". What do you think it is? Please elaborate. Holocaust is a very short event and it wasn't going on for centuries. Also jews are not suffering through the effects of holocaust like blacks are suffering through the effects of slavery to this day. Jews are not sent to prison for minor drug offenses because they are also white. Black experience is much much worse and it hasn't stopped and it can be traced to subtle statement "for whatever reason". [/quote]
