I think people mean that they have plenty of liquid cash to access quickly- in the bank- but few people have thousands of dollars hidden in their home.  It doesn't mean they don't have savings it just means theyre using bank for them instead of a box under the mattress[/quote]

Exactly. I’d have most of that in some sort of account, even one earning a slight bit of interest is better than sitting in a safe.
