No. Absolutely not. But let’s not forget why the British went to Palestine in the first place. It was only to give Jews a homeland via the Balfour declaration of 1917. Britain never cared about Palestine until Zionists gave British the idea.  The Brit’s already had their Suez Canal. They could easily cross the Red Sea to reach the Indian Ocean/their colonies. They also went from Africa to India via the ocean.

Britain never gave much thought about the Ottoman Empire/Middle East  prior to WW1/Zionist lobbying because they didn’t need to. Britain lasted maybe 50 years or less as the primary Zionist sponsor until things moved to France and finally the US in 1967[/quote]

The British were interested in the ME prior to WW1. Some of their interest was a natural extension of their control over the Indian subcontinent.
