Per an e-mail from Kishan Putta to the 'hood 'servs, DCPS will allow Hardy (and other DCPS schools) to use the fields at the MacArthur HS campus "for now". There was word a year or two ago that the Maret administration had finally figured out that stealing a playing field from public school kids wasn't a great look for them and had actually managed to find another (non-public) field to make use of. Maybe related to this, Kishan also talks of Maret "building a new field" in Chevy Chase. This would seem to imply that Maret vacating Jelleff is at least a few years off. Anyone have more intel?
Its the Episcopal Center in CCDC. Quite the trek from Maret, so surprised the plan was to vacate Jelleff altoghether, but perhaps when you are on a bus already it doesn't matter how far you drive.
You would think that, but Maret families testified that their kids didn’t have time in their schedules to travel far. No lie. (But Hardy kids can bus across town? How can you yell “I’m tone deaf!” without saying those words….) How are Hardy teams supposed to get to Macarthur?
Wait, so now Maret isn't using the Episcopal fields? Are you sure?
Maret is going to use Episcopal once the fields are built, they're still waiting for Zoning Board approval. What the PP was alluding to is during the hearings on the Jelleff lease it was pointed out that schools like Hardy and Walls have to travel to fields in other quadrants for home games and practices. The Maret parents said their kids were too busy to travel that far. It was a very tone-deaf moment.
