For all the people talking about what it teaches children, I can't think of any circumstance under which my parents would have allowed me to expect someone else solve MY problem. And being stuck with no bathing suit the night before a trip to the beach is in fact, the other mother's problem, no matter how it came about. It shows lack of foresight, lack of planning, lack of problem-solving abilities, and no tact to let someone know you're missing these essential parenting and life skills.[/quote]
