Yes Admissions Directors talk and Holton wants to be first choice.  If they realized they are not, ahold on is the type of school that would reject the, before they reject you.  [/quote]

This and also that the rising 9th grade at Holton is HUGE.  They have 86 girls currently, which is a lot larger than most of the high school classes.  They didn't expect so many to accept their offer of admission in 7th two years ago, I'm guessing, so now they need to right-size the class and didn't take a lot of kids.  The school has a limit on the overall number of girls they can have in the building (fire codes) and the current senior class is very small so once they're gone there isn't another small class to offset this.
