On a percentage of class size basis, St Anselm’s would be the winner by a long shot, right? And for non-selective admission schools that also don’t attempt to weed out students (all 4 of those), I’d say it’s Latin for the win.[/quote]

No one is mocking Latin.

PP is mocking the Latin booster who claims that Latin is a wonderful school because it had a few NMSFs this year.

The fact is that the school is mid.  Some kids don’t even graduate or go to college.

Having a few top NMSF scorers this year (Latin typically has zero NMSF) doesn’t show that the school is good.[/quote]

First of all, thank you for proving me right!  Someone earlier in the thread wrote that "no one hates Latin," and I said that, actually, there's one poster who is obsessed with calling Latin "mid".  And here you are!  As if someone called your name!

Secondly, can you please quit using the word "mid."  It's really more of a word for 16 year olds, and this forum just isn't for people that age.

Thirdly, rather than just giving a vague insult, perhaps you could let us know what you even mean by "mid."  As far as i can tell, Latin is a good school with hard working teachers and students.  By all objective measures, it's better than most schools in DC.  The test scores reflect this, as do the experiences with the school we hear about from parents.

Fourth, you are very fortunate, because no one is ever, ever going to force you to send your child to Latin.  Your long nightmare is over!

Fifth, I would love it if we could stop slamming other schools and simply be happy that many good options are available to our children that weren't options for the students before them.  It's just petty.  And pointless, unless your goal is to make hardworking teachers and students feel worse about education in our city.

Good charter schools are helping more students stay in the city.  This is reflected in the statistics published by the city.  The high school years in DCPS and charter high schools have shown more overall growth than any other band of grades.  There's potential for a lot more growth in the future.  [/quote]

No one was taking shots at Latin. They were making fun of people twisting logic and reason to support their desired conclusion.

You're confusing your posters. I'm the person you're replying to, not the person who calls Latin Mid. You have REALLY thin skin. It is super weird that you seem to understand the mid person is probably one poster, but somehow you can't handle living in a world where someone doesn't like your kids' school. If you are that insecure about Latin then the problem isn't the mid poster, it is your lack of faith in Latin.  [/quote]

You want I should parse it for you?
1. Poster who calls Latin Mid is not the person (me) who thinks the precious Latin poster has think skin
2. The Latin poster has think skin 
3. The think skin Latin poster seems to think it is the same person who calls Latin "mid" over and over. Which means they are overreacting and getting their boxers in a bunch over ONE PERSON saying something about their kids' school
4. The poster's problem isn't the "mid" poster, it is that they are VERY insecure about their own choices

P.S. I'm too old to even know what "mid" actually means. So it everyone else old enough to have kids at Latin. My guess is you and your insecure buddy are reacting to an 11 year old. Which I have to admit is funny.[/quote]
