gds basketball coach is the best
Yes but it's not a basketball school. Or a boys sports school, unfortunately.
They fired him. Agree that GDS isn’t a sports school. I wonder if this will change at some point.
GDS just brought in a former pro bball player and Team Durant trainer to coach the men's HS team, and heard he just recruited a number of Gonzaga players to GDS.
I didn’t realize they hired Alpha. He’s a respected coach/trainer in the DMV for sure. Not sure if GDS will let him recruit, but it will be nice if they can get some talent to give Sidwell some competition.
GDS is such a mess from the top. On top of the homework threat which does not pan out to be more than 2 hours, they just let go of the best head of school and are filling the head role and doubling down on a few policies the parents are not happy with. Being a basketball player is just one element that is not worth it. Look elsewhere if you can get in. That’s a great move for GDS! If he dies this right, he could really change that program. They have the best busing system and are very metro accessible. I’ve never understood why they weren’t better at certain sports.
