The point is that you should have very matter of fact discussions with your kids about the firearms you own, and the fact that a huge percentage of friends’ homes will have firearms, whether the parents choose to say so or not, and you need to remove the elements of secretiveness and stigma from the conversation.

The more matter-of-fact you are about the topic, the more you remove the natural “curiosity” that attracts kids to something that is perceived as off-limits. And it also gives you more of an opportunity to have practical and useful conversations about firearms and how they work, which is paramount to safety. [/quote]
