Update on the case: https://www.fox5dc.com/news/no-bond-bethesda-chevy-chase-hs-student-accused-firing-shots-during-fight-near-school It sounds like the shootout was over a girl as some posters indicated. How pathetic.
There could be so much more to the story and there are always more than two sides. Everyone needs to stop with the rumors. It is pathetic that a grown up/parent/former parent whomever would say to media that according to their sources it was over a girl without saying what the source(s) was. Did the Principal ask parent(s) or adult(s) to stop saying such things as Principals ask of students not to post videos? A video at least is something you can watch and analyze yourself.
Not naming your sources is allowed in journalism. Not naming your sources does not mean the information you are sharing is uncredible. You as a viewer are allowed to take information attributed to unnamed sources with more of a grain of salt if you wish, but it is not true that only named sources are credible or allowed to included in reporting.
Sure, but in this case it wasn't the journalist using anonymous sources. When that happens, I know the journalist has checked that the source is credible but is protecting the source. In this case, the non-anonymous source used by the journalist says he knows what he knows because he hears things from the students.
How pompous. Who is that person to be "hearing from the students" if it's not a staff member of the school?
He's the Booster President who has no doubt gained the trust of students and staff over time due to his contributions and time volunteered to the school community. This is not rocket science and I don't understand why you're confused about how or why he would hear and know things about the school, that his child is probably a part of.
