Justifying killing this man is mind-boggling to me. There's a public relating to an extreme level of frustration, and then there's celebration for ending the life of someone who was one cog of a giant (broken) machine. This can't be acceptable.
I guess the argument is that these companies and their leaders are ok with killing people for the sake of profit. I guess you don’t get much respect when you earn your living that way.
How does that make everyone shrug off Brian Thompson being gunned down on the street. Vigilante justice is OK when lots of people agree on it, but not OK when public opinion is mostly opposed ... Who gets to decide, under what circumstances. We cannot move forward like this.
The norms of the past are out the window. The internet, globalism, and Trump’s erosion of civility, decency and honor are all factors. One lesson of his success is that if you want something you need to grab it first and worry about the ramifications later. This shooter guy didn’t do very well with the ramifications.
We don’t know the full results of his actions yet…
In case you haven’t realized the world is going to hell in a hand basket - Putin, Iran, China, n Korea, parts of EU and LatAm, Trump coming in. Revamping a super complex healthcare system of insurers, health providers, aid and no aid patients, tech billing, and general infrastructure isn’t on the top 50 list. Plus it’s still reeling from, and now seeing the negative externalities and distortions, Obamacare ACA and value based care. Which is basically a land and subsidy grab, even for “health tech” venture firms. Did you know the federal government will pay you to recruit and run a little company who recruits people to go onto ACA plan and do preventative care visits? This was a venture deal we saw. Went under after a few years. Never scaled either. Paying people to escort you to the doctor X times a year didn’t work.
