DC's unemployment rate is almost double that of the surrounding region. We should be encouraging people to come into the city not discouraging it.
Wouldn't it be great if DC had ways for people who don't live in DC to come into DC without having to drive and park their own cars?
It would be great if the region had an extensive mega city subway system. But we don't. It would also be great if we had teleporters. Until that happens though all that is being accomplished by this war on cars, residential neighborhoods, and MD/VA residents is a loss of business and the creation of a bad reputation.
We don't?
We don't. We have a midsize city limited subway.
We absolutely don’t have an extensive subway system. It does not even compare to Seoul or Beijing.
"even"? Why "even"? Population of Seoul metro area: 26 million Population of Beijing metro area: 110 million Population of DC metro area: 6 million
Yes, I am well aware of that and I have been to both of those places in Asia. My point is that DC metro will never be a walkable urbanist utopia. People that are trying to force a car free lifestyle due to a political agenda will not be successful at their goals.. They will be successful at destroying DC. The Seoul Metro area has a population density 14.9x that of the DC Metro area. Even in South Korea, 80% of households own a car and the majority of South Koreans see it as essential to own a car.
"It is impossible for DC to change, and therefore I oppose every effort to change DC." - you
No I did not say this. I said it’s a bad idea to pursue ideologically driven policies that will destroy the economy and are designed based on incorrect assumptions about consumer behavior.
