My mom and dad stayed in the DC area and were very active. Liked the city, restaurants, tons of work colleagues and lifelong friends that also are still here. Plus, the grandkids were here. We have a rental rowhouse in the city too. I used to think we'd buy another property in an area we love--Maine, etc.---but I now prefer the idea of just traveling and doing long airbnbs in retirement. [/quote]
