I wish American Israeli and Palestinian Americans could model how to get along to the rest of the world. And then, translate that in helping their old-world peoples find a path to lasting peace. That would mean they put being American ahead of having Israeli or Palestinian roots.
No one has Israeli roots. It is a new country settled in 1948 where they instituted a new constitution, imported millions of migrants, and built a national language, which had not been in spoken form for centuries. If Israel would follow the calls from the UN - which has stood for decades - calling for a removal of settlements, a true 2 state solution (and not the sham "peace deals" that were offered as a ruse), a right to Palestinian resettlement, and payment of restitution maybe we could see peace in our lifetimes. But Israel has refused those basic premises for 75 years and instead opted to systematically kill the population so that they could take the entirety of the land - land which Palestinians have lived on for generations. Just ask Israel to abide by international law and stop killing those working for peace - including their own leaders.
Most Palestinians haven't lived on those lands for generations given that most Palestinians were born within the last 40 years. Where did so many of Israel's population come from? They were kicked out of all the other Middle Eastern countries in 1948 and afterwards. Places where they had lived for generations, FYI. Why? Because they were Jewish. Where were they supposed to go, suddenly stateless? Hundreds of thousands of Jews across the Middle East were driven from their homes and deprived of all their possessions. Do you cry for them? Nope. Palestinians have rejected every single proposal or offer from Israel. Every single one. What is Israel supposed to do? Maybe if Palestinians didn't vote in terrorists and support terrorist raids like October 7, they wouldn't be in this mess today, eh? It's rather telling no other Arab country is stepping in to help Palestinians.
