I am neither Republican nor Democrat but I do notice that all Democrats along with the 8 Republicans voted against McCarthy while 210 Republicans voted for McCarthy. But somehow the 8 Republicans are extremists while the Democrats are not? It takes two to tango, you know.
No. McCarthy never could be the Democrats choice for Speaker and they have no reason to save him. He did nothing moderate or bipartisan or nonpartisan. He put lunatics in charge of committees. He set an extreme agenda and did not allow Democratic amendments. He did not make any attempt to get the House to even consider bipartisan or nonpartisan bills that could plausibly negotiate with the Senate and White House. Stop gaslighting that McCarthy was a reasonable centrist. He was an incompetent ideologue who failed to honor the deals he made and couldn’t deliver votes or count votes, the most essential requirements to be Speaker.
