Just wanting to throw out some thoughts: If you are savvy business people like the Tuhey's are, you may talk to Oher about capitalizing on their story. And it's not JUST Oher's story. It's all of theirs. And they all should profit. It sucks if Oher didn't get anything from the conservatorship - he should and hopefully that'll come out in the courts. But if they all profited from it, I think that's fair. For Oher to now say that her work (marketing, traveling and doing the speaking circuit, writing her speeches, performing them, etc.) all that money should go to him is ridiculous. He should do the speaking circuit and make his own money using the story. If Oher never went and lived with them, do you think there would even be a book? movie? speaking opportunities? No. Those all happened because of the Tuheys. Yes, it was based on him. But based on the whole family too. I read that they each got $14,000 for the movie. That's it. But for all these other opportunities I think Oher is trying for a money grab without realizing that the family made it what it is today. Bottom line is there are a lot of us that have riveting stories that, with the right connections, startup money and/or business savvy could make some buck off of. Just having a story doesn't get you everything Oher is asking for.
So how are you paid by the Singer Media Manipulation team? How much? They had no story without him and lied to him and all of us. How cheap not to share the royalties with him. Thanks for verifying that everything they did was about making another buck for them and getting lots of attention for themselves. What goooood people they are.
Nope. I'm making some valid points. You saying I'm part of a media team is funny.
They had no story without him
There would be no story without the family either. Not true. Oher had other people that were helping him, including a friend's father who introduced him to the principal of the private school where he played football. Oher had played football before and could have found success without the Tuohy family. But - I still go back to asking why should he get all the money she made by going around giving speeches? She writes them, she advertised and marketed herself to get the invites/contracts, and she performs them. I've never seen anything she's done but if they are about HER perspective and HER experience with Oher then she has every right to make money doing it.
Oher's not asking for all the money, just a cut of what should be his-which is not unreasonable. No one would be paying attention to Leigh Anne without Oher's name. If Leigh Anne wants to be a motivational speaker on her own merits, and not pay him, perhaps she should refrain from speaking about him. Let's face it, without Oher, the Tuohy's are just another rich white family.
I agree. Tuohys should be ashamed but they aren’t. They have made millions in speaking fees over the years and they never adopted him.
and look at the rabid lawyer they've hired and his troll farm sent far and wide to protect their "good" name.
