That's actually not true. No parents were emphatic. It was obvious there were risks. The girls decided they really wanted to stay together, and the parents supported the decision. Naive maybe, but emphatic, no. With the proper management, could have been great, but their ineptitude and lack of caring was greatly underestimated.
Neutral party here. It makes me genuinely happy that there are girls out there that value friendships more than lacrosse glory and the opinions of others. It probably cost the parents a bit in lost scholarship money, but the life lessons learned were probably more valuable.
Enough on the 23's!!! From a certain point of view, sure, the Pride 23's stayed together for friendship, but a more likely point of view was a few parents of Pride 23 players (that did not get their way with Capital leading up to try-outs) coerced the group into thinking there was a benefit to staying together, but were primarily thinking about the benefit of their daughters in recruiting by keeping the Pride 23 team together. And, let's also remember that KM forced 14 year old girls to decide to stay with Pride 23 for high school by locking them into agreements before the Capital try-outs that year.
