At DC’s school, many moms are totally overdressed for whatever the occasion is, and wear multiple, yet identical to each other, status symbols. Ie, the whole set of Van Cleef Alhambra jewelry, several Cartier or Tiffany bracelets (like 5 or so on each wrist). It’s all so OTT, and I don’t get it at all. I may wear one nice watch, or so, but even though I think I am well put together, these women make me feel like some sort of Cinderella covered in ashes. What is this style and do moms wear these items at your private?
I live in Greenwich, CT and it can be pretty crazy, but I don’t notice jewelry…I’m surprised this is the case in DC. DC isn’t dumpy but it’s not NYC or the NY suburbs. It sounds like you have a lot of NY transplants.
DC is full of people from around the world. Many of the kids at the privates are billionaires. The whole "big law" and "I am a Dr. thing" isn't real money here like lets say Richmond for something.
