Janeese Lewis George wants 15 million for two sites for people to do drugs in. These CMs are absolutely costing DC statehood. https://twitter.com/maustermuhle/status/1630218771875938304?s=46&t=4l8dxG1aS4tikvWj7e8VTw
Oh right, because D.C. was very close to getting statehood before the current D.C. Council was sworn in/before crime started rising, and now the only thing stopping it is who's on the Council, as opposed to, say, the fact that the House is under Republican control and won't vote for D.C. statehood no matter what?
What’s stopping it is that everyone knows what a sh*tshiw of government we have now. Also DC can’t fund the schools or a free bus, but claims it can pay the $2 billion per year to be a state? Just do away with the taxation already, you bloody idiots
It's not like getting rid of federal taxes in D.C. is actually a choice anyone is presenting as a real option, though.
I’ll vote for anyone who did
If you live in D.C., you can't — it'd take an act of Congress.
That’s not true. I voted for your idiots and never will again. I get plenty of voting I’d now like clean safe streets good school housings healthcare Less taxation And the next vote to get you spineless slugs out of the office (and no I don’t care who the alternative is)
Many of the alternatives who have run are even softer on crime, so saying "I don't care who the alternative is" is at best, meaningless hyperbole. More moderate and electable candidates need to run. There are genuine mechanisms in place to protect the status quo. Grandiose words are of no genuine use. Being strategic is. That takes a bit more time and effort.
