This is pure conjecture. No direct evidence supports this. Sure, a group that makes up 15% of the county's population has occupied 70% of the seats now only has 60% because of a chance in policy. Let's keep this in perspective.
Stop distorting the numbers to try to make your point. A group that makes up 20% of the FCPS population has occupied 73% of the seats and now only has 54%. So, the overrepresentation is not as drastic as you're making it out to be, and the reduction in Asian enrollment is twice as large as you're claiming. The overrepresentation of Asian students of course has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that Asian cultures greatly value education and hard work.
Maybe if 30 percent of one class didn't come from a $4,000 prep school that students reported having access to test questions, there wouldn't have been a need to change the process? It was a lot more than just valuing education, the admissions was skewed to kids who could afford expensive prep centers. This is a public school, not being able to afford $4,000 for prep shouldn't disadvantage you. Also, there are Asian kids in every middle school in Fairfax County. Poor Asian kids in Eastern Fairfax are definitely positively impacted by this change. This is a public school, it should serve the entire county.
Stop lying, The process change had nothing to do with "a prep school". Please read the school board's debate on this issue. The old process was holistic and open to all. The old process resulted the #1 public high school in the country. The only issue you have with the old process was too many Asians.
