Of course the impulse of some is to shriek "BOTH SIDES" "IT HASN'T GONE TO TRIAL!!!" no matter what the evidence presented strongly suggests. Some people can't even say, "Maybe there's a chance this has been misinterpreted, but it looks pretty bad for the police, considering the selected quotes and existence of footage." No, it MUST be the mom is at least 50%-- and probably closer to 99%-- likely to be money-grubbing and lying regardless of all of the suggestive evidence and the fact it's not fun to go to trial, have your name dragged in the mud, etc.
