What I find telling about the ignorance of the gun-grabbers is that they consider a [b]bayonet mount[/b] as one of the "evil features" that defines a so-called assault weapon. An M1 carbine without a bayonet lug would be legal under the terms of their proposed assault weapon law. The same gun with a bayonet lug would be considered an assault weapon, and would be illegal.

What I'm wondering is this: What is it about a bayonet lug that makes a gun with that feature so dangerous? How many people in the entire USA have been bayonetted to death in the past 150 years? I would bet that the answer is NONE. But that doesn't stop the gun-grabbers. They'll use any excuse they can to make life difficult for law-abiding gun owners and to grab as many guns as they can.[/quote]

I think it’s because a bayonet is inherently a weapon of war. So attaching them to a gun reinforces the notion that the gun is really intended for something other than a legitimate civilian need like hunting or household protection. [/quote]
