Claremont immersion parents living in the preferred neighborhoods fought hard against the change because they didn't want to lose their guarantee -- you know the argument: we bought our house in this neighborhood so we could go to "x" school and you can't take it away because that school came with our house. The push came from people seeking equity in admissions policies so admission isn't based on one's ability to buy in a particular neighborhood.[/quote]
