Hey, "don't over use those loaded words" PPs - is it ok to call this PP a racist? They think that

-Hispanic kids can't speak English
-black kids don't know how to study
-white kids will get blamed for being white[/quote]

These are stereotypes and don't apply to all kids but the numbers don't lie.[b]Why is it that these 2 groups perform poorly[/b]? it could be tied to SES but I know plenty of low SES success stories, including myself. What is the common denominator of success across income, race and culture? Parents valuing education. If a parent values education, the child will usually be more motivated to succeed. My parents were immigrants. One had tech school education and one didnt graduate college. But they both knew the importance of education and instilled that in me. We couldnt afford tutors and they didn't have the ability to help me, but I knew they would not be happy if I didn't do well.
Can MCPS change parents perceptions? I dont know but I think it would be worth trying to do that versus continuing to do things that just don't work.

No one in MCPS wants to answer the question in bold. They will jump through million hoops to make every excuse under the sun to explain the under performance of these 2 groups.[/quote]
