I am amazed at the idiocy on this board. We are talking about the losers who try to argue that there are no serious players outside of DA/ECNL. Now people are trying to argue that Celtic wins over DA teams don't count. Look, just because you were suckered into paying tens of thousands to claim to your friends that your DD is an elite players does not mean that those who were nor suckered can't enjoy elite soccer without paying tens of thousands. Also, Bethesda will end up one of the top teams in the country because the team merged with a non-ECNL team that was already a top team.
Who is paying tens of thousands of dollars other than metro? My DD plays ecnl and we pay about the same as our friends playing on a top national league team.
Metro doesn’t pay tens of thousands. Fake news. Just stop.
Your saying that between the posted $, uniform costs, travel fees for any showcases (hotel/air/food), travel fees for any league games where a bus is used, your travel and hotels for games where a bus isn't used, and your travel to the showcases (assuming you go) that you won;t spend $10k?
Metro dues are well higher than everywhere else. That’s common knowledge. They’re even more then the the st James fc Virginia.
Is that true? Metro “dues” include winter training and futsal. No additional shakedowns during the year. Do STFCV’s or any of the other options? No. I’d wager at the end of the day metro might be a bit lower in fact.
Not hard to compare. Post what you pay for MU. FCV Dues: 2800 Uniforms: Very dependent on what you buy, but minimum kit 150 Travel: 3-4k FCV builds futsal into the sessions, but if the players opt to play with Gus and practice more routinely and attend tournaments, the cost is very low for that. I won't mention cost because it is discounted way below advertised. You are up MU!
I'll answer... but only because I think it's helpful for parents trying to decide whether to play in these leagues. This argument between the cost of one club vs. another is dumb. DA/ECNL teams cost roughly the same within a margin. For most people affording these leagues, this is about geography and whether they can get their kid to these practices 4 days/week. For our family, even if FCV is $800 less, I can't physically get my kid to Leesburg on weeknights, so it's a "cost of living" closer to the city. For Metro, the situation is much improved from the Spirit model. There are no "winter fees" or extra $ for futsal or performance training, and they have been upholding the 4 practices/week schedule with regular performance training included (whereas Spirit did not). The club fee rate has been previously published on these boards and is/was public on the GFR website; not sure why it's a "controversy". $3600 for full time players; $1200 for PT players when they are also registered FT with a partner club (which runs ~2400, so cost is the same). Uniforms are comparable to the rate quoted above for the minimum ($150) and depends greatly on what kind of "extras" you choose to purchase. Travel looks like it will be around 3k per player (travel and lodging for 2 bus trips & 3 showcases), excluding meals. All in costs somewhere around $6800 for a player... Obviously more if the whole family travels to showcases and stays in the Ritz, but kids are staying with the team. More than the $2400 + uniform + tournament travel + winter fees for a non-DA/ECNL team? Sure, yes, probably, though not THAT much more when considering the extra day of training, consistently quality matches, and college recruiting & scout exposure built in. It is definitely not the "tens of thousands of dollars" BS, for any club in one of these leagues in the area that I've priced out.
I know folks over on MU and the costs are similar. Regular travel is nearly as expense when you factor in the cost of having to drive to every tournament, hotels, meals, etc. The travel cost for FCV are chaperoned trips and it is all factored in for the player. I was spending more when my DD played ECNL traveling to NC, SC, tournament hotels, etc.
