This is getting very confusing. Is this correct? - The two Ukranian thugs who were arrested made illegal campaign contributions to Trump on behalf of one or more shady Ukraians and/or Russians. - The two thugs were ‘friends’ with Rudy Guilliani, who wanted Ukraine to investigate the alleged corrupt activities of the Biden family. - The two thugs also wanted the female Ukranian ambassador fired since she was impeding the attempts to strongarm Ukraine. - The two thugs contributed to Pete Sessions and to Kevin McCarthy to influence them to get rid of the female Ukrainian ambassador. - Bill Barr signed off on the arrest of the two thugs in a possible attempt to cover his backside and implicate Giuliani. - Giuliani may have received notice of the impending arrest of the thugs from his friends in the FBI in SDNY, and warned the thugs, who then attempted to flee. - Former Trump lawyer John Dowd is representing the two thugs and is claiming some kind of convoluted executive privilege protection. - This is all part of the broader investigation of the Trump/Ukraine scandal re the whistleblower complaint. This may have seemed like a huge scandal three years ago, but now it seems like just another day in Trump world. How does the thugs illegally channeling money to Trump differ from the NRA doing the same thing? And whatever happened to that case? Does any of this directly implicate Trump? I’d love for this to go somewhere, but I can’t help but be skeptical, especially as this has become so complex.
They are US citizens now, but apparently exceeded contribution limits while also funneling contributions from a foreign donor not named in the indictment (there's I think 4 guys in the indictment). The contributions went to a PAC. Thugs you say? Heavens no. They dine with Rudy and visit Mar-a-Lago, how could they possibly? The contributions were made in the name of Global Energy Partners LLC, supposedly a company trading in natural gas and other energy stuff but did not actually do anything besides funnel money to the PAC, so there is fraud in connection with setting up the business and using it as a straw donor. Dowd is claiming attorney client privilege, as a private attorney (including his work for Trump previously) executive privilege would not apply. But given the charges against these guys, wouldn't they have to be spun off to a different lawyer at some point due to potential conflict for Dowd if he has previously represented Trump? On a side topic, last week Guiliani hired his own lawyer who said publicly something about how with Rudy you tell him one thing and he goes and does another. Anyone remember that, who was that lawyer, and does he still have the same lawyer? There will be connections with the Ukraine/Trump scandal although I'm shaky on the thread right now, but Rick Perry would be a link if I am understanding the picture right.
