The reason Landon's football program has been much more competitive in recent years (they have always been pretty solid in the IAC, historically speaking) is that several of the star football 8th graders are no longer leaving Landon after middle school for WCAC programs such as DeMatha, Good Counsel or Gonzaga. While some still leave to play more competitive football in the WCAC, several have opted to stay at Landon as a result of the new coaches Landon brought in 4 years ago.

Most IAC football rosters are more diverse than what they were 5 - 6 years ago.

I sure hope the IAC doesn't abandon football, some of my sons best memories were on the gridiron.

Some of these schools will abandon football when it becomes too difficult to field teams.  It is becoming more and more difficult to field teams because many parents worry that their sons won't have memories of high school when they are in their 40s and 50s due to concussions ...  Lacrosse has tried to minimize hitting, a move that will pay off for the growth of the sport.[/quote]
