There's a breed of internet warriors armed with superficial social, economic, political and demographic data on every American city despite never having been to most of them. They're the people who will tell you to avoid DC at all cost because of Anacostia, or the time great-aunt got approached by a panhandler in 1991. The terminology is consistent.
