And this, in a nutshell, is a form of antisemtitsm itself on the left. It's not just about tiki torches. It's the indifference to antisemtism, the call for patience and understanding in the face of repeated infractions, and the excuse-making - compared to the attack and negative motives upon Jews who are upset about it.
Just out of curiosity, how much difference do you see between conspiracy theories about the Rothschilds and conspiracy theories about George Soros? A lot of the Soros discourse is wrapped up in blatant anti-Semitism. Are you equally offended by that? We see Soros being blamed for all sorts of things almost daily in the Political Forum. Does that concern you? Where does this fit in your theories about "hard" and "soft" anti-Semitism?
1) The only thing I object to as far as criticism of Soros is that he was blamed as a child for helping Nazis. Is that what you're talking about? From what I've read, he did not actively assist them and I do not hold him responsible. 2) I notice, though, that you turned this around to put me on defensive - a liberal tactic - without responding to my point at all. Do you not agree that you and other posters are insisting we give White the benefit of the doubt, while you assign the most negative motivations to Jews like me who are appalled by him? You said on one post that we "can't access White's brain" to know what he really feels, yet you accused me of not caring about antisemtism - you know nothing of my childhood and what I experienced, including being kicked out of a car and made to walk home when the driver found out I was Jewish* - and said that I'm using this issue as a tool to drive strife between blacks and Jews. Are you willing to acknowledge that you can't "access my brain" and were wrong in saying I don't care about antisemtitism? * In case youre interested, same thing happened to my sister, after a round of golf. She apparently let it slip she was Jewish, and she ended up having to "schlep" home with a bag full of clubs. So don't say I don't really care about antisemitism. Of all the things you've ever said to me, that's the worst.
1) You really didn't answer my question. There are many anti-Soros conspiracy theories that are clearly anti-Semitic. See this article that describes how even Netanyahu's son was involved in spreading such ideas: https://www.haaretz.com/opinion/.premium-zeroing-in-on-soros-netanyahu-is-side-by-side-with-anti-semitic-scum-1.5792539 Or this meme being spread by alt-rights movement leader Mike Cernovich: https://www.adl.org/blog/anti-semitism-used-in-attack-against-national-security-adviser-h-r-mcmaster Soros was even shown in a Trump campaign ad while the narrator talked about Wall Street being controlled by global special interests who are involved in a conspiracy against the American people: https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/politics/team-trump-donald-trumps-argument-for-america-campaign-2016/2016/11/06/218f32d4-a443-11e6-ba46-53db57f0e351_video.html Is there any difference between this sort of thing and the conspiracy theories about the Rothschilds? Do the anti-Soros conspiracy theories concern you? 2) I think White's actions are troubling and, in the case of the contribution to the NOI, illegal. But, I do not think they amount to obvious anti-Semitism. I think White has demonstrated that he is unacceptably insensitive to anti-Semitism and I don't blame Jews (or anyone else for that matter) for being upset and appalled. I do believe that much of the reaction by Jews (and others) is heartfelt and sincere. However, I think that you personally have demonstrated repeatedly that your primary motivation is political partisanship rather than concern about anti-Semitism. This is evident by your insistence in nearly every post on blaming "liberals" when liberals are on both sides of this discussion. You have claimed time after time that those who -- like me -- don't see White as a blatant anti-Semite are making excuses because we are liberals. You don't give us credit for understanding a much more nuanced situation. In fact, you even reject Jews United for Justice on the simple basis that they are liberal. For you, this is a conflict between liberals and conservatives, not anti-Semites and those who oppose them.
