Clearly there is pent up demand for some decent and higher quality work clothing!
I understand that and think that is a COMPLETELY legitimate concern, also the quality issue. But to say "all fashion is ugly" is what I take issue with. There's some truly amazing stuff out today and it does seem to me an issue of many DCUMers being out of the fashion world and/or at a different time in their life and not understanding what's going on (which can happen to everyone). But just because you don't understand it or it doesn't perfectly cater to you doesn't mean you can just write it all off. I think a post about "i can't find work or conservative clothes" would go over much better
NP. Immediate PP, can you please post links to some of the "truly amazing" fashion out there today? Because most of us just don't see it, and it would be helpful for you to lead us to what we're missing. Personally, I do think almost everything out now is not flattering to the vast majority of real people. Skin tight leggings or skinny, low rise styles aren't flattering on a lot of women. They also aren't appropriate for many offices. Many of us would like, and are willing to spend money on, clothes that make us look and feel professional and put together, even if that means that the clothes are boring. I, for one, miss the days of lightweight, good quality sweaters (silk, cotton, merino, whatever) that don't pill the second time you put them on, that are thick enough to wear alone but thin enough to wear under a suit jacket. And forget about it if you're short or not rail thin -- your options are even even more limited. I love that the "short" BR pants have a 31" inseam -- I would need to have four or five inches hacked off -- even my husband would have to have them hemmed.
