179 pages and counting of comments, for what? Speaking on the boys side, it is a sad, sad state of affairs and truly it does not matter - at all. The coaches are here for one reason - a paycheck only and have flamed out, are failed players themselves, and are just not good enough, technical enough to coach at a higher level. The ECNL is merely four letters - does not define shit. It does not make or define the dedication, heart, talent of a player. In the world of the transfer portal and international players, none of these kids are playing D1. For the boys, where, UVA, NC, Maryland, JMU, wake up parents. Really? Go explore and do research. If you want to teach your boys “to become men,” stop the hand wringing over roster spots, stop kissing the ECNLs and a coach’s ass, stop the politics, and drop them with their ball at some legit D1 ID camps, broader ID camps, and don’t watch for once. See how your boys do. If they struggle, fail, “it is okay,” it is part of life. And, if they decide to play club ball in college or don’t play, that is okay as well. 179 pages dedicated to giving credibility to a worthless league and its corrupt coaches forming a new club to keep a job (not professionals, not elite coaches - bums, washed-up). Leadership, empathy, and real interest in the development of the soccer player, a team, and ultimately, “young men” - what this sport of soccer should be for teenage boys - it is a sad state of affairs. And for any of the teenage boys not playing ECNL, don’t feel for a second you are any less of a player or young man. In anything you do, including soccer, it is resilience, integrity and heart that matters. Never count yourself out!
