hmm, IDK, I'm not in NYC but I am 47 and get compliments from random men all the time. As well as cat calls (yuck) and asked out. This is when I'm walking from my car to work so not like I'm showing a lot of skin. I would not consider myself "quite pretty" but I am in shape and maybe I look younger than I am? It's hard to judge.
I also have men of all ages chat me up at the gym, in stores, etc. And women I don't know come up and tell me their life stories, their problems etc (often in the bathroom). Must be the energy I'm putting out there. So.. who knows how men's minds work? But it also may be the vibe you give off that keeps them away. [/quote]
