Grade dilution is almost certainly a thing: +----------------------+----------------+-------------------+-----------------------+--------------------------+ | Scenario | Incoming Students | % of Student Body | Expected MD Ranking | Academic Character | +----------------------+----------------+-------------------+-----------------------+--------------------------+ | Current Wootton | 0 | 0% | #2 – #4 | Ultra-elite, uniform | | | | | | excellence | +----------------------+----------------+-------------------+-----------------------+--------------------------+ | Light Option H | ~400 | ~18–20% | #6 – #10 | Converges toward RM / | | | | | | Churchill | +----------------------+----------------+-------------------+-----------------------+--------------------------+ | Moderate Option H | ~600 | ~25–30% | #10 – #15 | Strong top-end, broader | | (1st inflection) | | | | median outcomes | +----------------------+----------------+-------------------+-----------------------+--------------------------+ | Heavy Option H | ~800 | ~33–36% | #15 – #25 | Track-dependent elite; | | (2nd inflection) | | | | internal stratification | +----------------------+----------------+-------------------+-----------------------+--------------------------+
And that is just simple grade dilution, then factor in that housing were artificially inflated by the school and now amenities can be had elsewhere so you get attrition from cost conscious buyers and those that really want the best of the best. Most parents that really value education aren't going to look at spending an hour in traffic everyday as a good value when they could be studying. Not to mention just the disruptive effects of moving. Test scores are going down.
