I am waiting for Israel's false flag attack to stop the US withdrawal.
Withdrawal from what? We didn’t even enter. We would lose so many soldiers if we sent ground troops and we all know it and neither Trump nor Israel can afford any more outrage or unpopularity. Every mountain is a fortress over there and their missile defense have caught on to our capabilities so much that even our aerial bombardment meant nothing after a week. Iran kept shooting down our missiles until we lost them all. This is the worst war in US history that Trump and friends are trying to memory hole this as not a war but a mission.
Nothing is more dangerous than a confident idiot with power. There is no shortage of people with expertise in modern war in the era of drones or the complexities of Iran. But Trump and Hegseth didn’t listen to anyone - except the Israelis. Stupidest war ever. There is no outcome in which the US is better off because of this dumb war. Now we’re talking about high gas prices as far as eye can see, even higher inflation, losing our bases in the gulf, and sending $300 billion to “invest” in Iran. And we used up most of our air defense interceptors to protect Israel - but failed to protect our bases or our Gulf allies. Which means we lost our ability to deal with more serious threats for the next couple of years as we need to replenish. The only upside I can see is that - as the US and Russia have learned the hard way - wars of choice are incredibly stupid in this day and age. Technology and all the innovation coming out of the Russia-Ukraine war has changed everything. And maybe if we could elect leaders with more two functional brain cells, we’ll knock it off with dumb wars of choice.
