GC will likely start trying to recruit the top players from public schools teams near by which are very good as far as MD publics go. Sherwood/Urbana/Linganore/Middletown/Oakdale/Glenelg/Westminster/Liberty/Century/South Carroll and Marriott's Ridge.
So they are going to ask families to pay tuition to get an education that’s almost as good as the one they get for free. This will allow them to then get the chance to go to a school to play a sport that doesn’t offer any real athletic money where the tuitions are beyond their reach in the first place.
Players usually get offered tuition reductions or get on scholarship. Or in some cases, yes, they will pay to go. Depends.
At GC for lax? Nope. And certainly not on any number to make them competitive year over year. And not when those same families get a free education for the same quality.
Private school education is *different* than public - some think it's better, some don't, and often times what is better depends on the kid. There are plenty of kids from MoCo and HoCo who drive 1hr+ into DC or BAL to play lacrosse (and other sports) at private schools. GC is starting to get a decent number of those kids now. If you look at the last few recruiting classes, GC is getting a lot of kids from top-level clubs (HoCo Elite) which historically was not the case. If GC can be competitive (at least WCAC semi's) each year, even more families will see it as a more convenient option.
