100 percent. The more cynical among us have said for years the first female president will have to be a Republican. And yes, we've been basically scared shitless that we had a woman as our Dem candidate. [/quote]

PP here and yes. I learned my lesson in 2016, and when Biden bowed out and it became clear Harris was the only viable option, I thought this was the most likely outcome. I proudly voted for her and thought her campaign outperformed my expectations, but nothing about this surprises me (except some of the details about the margin, and Trump winning the popular vote). This country has made it clear that it's hostile to the idea of a woman as president and I think it's likely a woman president would have to be able to wrap herself in the tough guy politics of the right to satisfy people.[/quote]
